According to statement posted on TechJaja, Orange group confirmed that they are looking for a partner in their Uganda operation.
Last week news about Orange Uganda looking for a buyer hit the internet and the mainly contender rumored to buy it was MTN Uganda. But earlier today during the MTN Uganda annual results announcement event, MTN CEO Mazon Mroue said that “We as MTN Uganda don’t have any official information to share with you in regards to buying any local telecom operator.”
The statement from Orange groups says that the telecom is looking for partner to enable Orange Uganda to continue to finance it’s operations as the group currently holds over 95%.
This means Orange Uganda is not going away if it get the partner it’s looking for. Below is the statement.
“The Orange Group will revise its position in the ownership structure of Orange Uganda during 2014.
Following a capital increase that took place over the course of 2013, the Orange Group currently holds over 95% of the company.
In order to enable Orange Uganda to continue to finance its operations and to make the necessary investments to ensure its continued development, Orange has engaged a process with a view to finding a new partner.

At a time when a consolidation phase has already begun in Uganda and the first benefits can already be felt across the market, Orange Uganda has all the necessary attributes to succeed.
